Borderlands 2 Wallpaper 1

The original Borderlands title was phenomenal, entertaining and one of my favourite titles. It had a compelling storyline, characters that needed serious psychiatric therapy and comedy that I wish every game would exhibit.

Brick, everyone’s favourite Berserker is replaced by Salvador a gnome-sized Gunzerker who despite his size packs weaponry that most tanks struggle to lug around. Lilith is replaced by Maya also a siren, who is able to freeze an enemy in place so that the rest of us are able to go bat-sh$t crazy on them using every last item in our arsenal.

Mordecai who was always a bit of a softy has been replaced by Zero an equally range-styled character with an unequally vicious ability to create a decoy of himself in close combat, go invisible and land a critical hit on any enemy nearby. Plus Zero also looks badass which in the world of Borderlands is never a bad thing. Finally Roland is replaced with Axton who as far as I can tell is exactly the same and relies on Roland’s or rather his turret to destroy any enemies.

There is a fifth class, which is available for download, Gaige a delightful and positively cute girl who when annoyed summons a scrap robot called Deathtrap who for lack of better wording is a robot that hates every enemy equally and does not skimp on arsenal and ammunition. Gaige falls into the class known as “Mechromancer”. Instead of creating completely new characters, the characters have just been improved and because of that they are nearing perfection.

In addition gameplay seems to have become even better, the AI is quicker and slightly smarter and at the best of times is downright challenging. There are almost too many weapons to choose from and each one will suit a different style of gamer. There is never a dull moment in Borderlands 2, you are either: fighting off hordes of enemies, solving a puzzle or being consumed by the enthralling storyline. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Handsome Jack is out to get you again and Claptrap, the ever jovial, is there to assist as best he can.

The graphics are much the same yet if you concentrate real long you may notice a slightly better environment and attention to detail. That being said, the original graphics were unique and changing them would have been a step in the wrong direction.

Borderlands 2 is possibly the best title I have played all year and I have a sneaking suspicion that it will reign supreme for quite a while on my list. If you even vaguely enjoyed the first then I guarantee that you will go bonkers for this sequel. What are you waiting for, stop reading this article and go buy yourself Borderlands 2, NOW!
