Communists or Capitalists? The battle continues…

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2; Why? Because destroying the competitors and setting the benchmark isn’t good enough. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 1 was brilliant in every way; Gameplay was fast-paced and satisfyingly frantic. The storyline was captivating and unpredictable. The graphics were arguably the best of the time. MW2 takes it to the next level…and holy *&$@ is it one crazy level!

This first-person shooter is hard hitting with utter excitement filling every moment. From silently taking out an entire airfield base to alerting a massive insurgent of rebel troops to riding snowmobiles whilst shooting enemy forces I cannot say that this game is monotonous and limited.

A multitude of weapons and enemies further widens this games playing arena. Switching from a semi-automatic large calibre sniper rifle to a thermal scoped machine gun allows any style of player to find comfort in their chosen ways. The power and sound quality gives an almost realistic feel to each individual weapon. Launching a rocket into a group of enemies has never felt this good.

You may find yourself confusing the game for a movie at times. Graphics in MW2 will blow you away; I hope not literally, no one wants that. Explosions, surroundings, faces and weapons are all extremely detailed. Movement visuals are also realistic; as whilst in a sprint the camera views bounces around and moveable objects on your weapon do the same. Close explosions will cause the view to become blurry which I think should be a compulsory aspect of every first-person shooter.
Storyline is almost a continuation on MW1. “Soap” is back along with “Sergeant Price” and a few others. However, if you have not played MW1 then do not be bothered everything is explained and all characters are introduced.

The story is one of treachery and deception. One attack provokes a large scale war between the Russians and Americans. As with the first you play as different characters. This constant switching may seem rather confusing. As the game progresses all lose ends are tied up and for the most part confusion is replaced with realisation and respect for such a well thought-out storyline.

As for gameplay…I have no idea where to begin. Well for starters you have a choice of the storyline, spec ops and online gamplay. Trust me, you wont be disappointed by either. Firing through a 60 bullet mag, quickly changing to a Desert Eagle then throwing a frag grenade normally results in the pleasure of obliterating several opponents. This is assuming you’re not a co-ord and that you weren’t firing in the wrong direction. No one enjoys friendly fire.

In storyline mode this will result in the loss of all teammates and the very imminent, absolute spanking by the enemy. The bots are skilful and ruthless. They do not care whether you were reloading or not, stupid reload times. So as a rule just before reloading check once, check twice, throw a grenade and then reload.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is an monumental improvement on an already fantastic game. It will have you on the edge of your seat constantly. With the occasional chuckle from the well scripted conversation and the outstanding gameplay MW2 is a definite must-play.
