News: Sony Ericsson Vivaz – It’s Not a Tropical Disease

Imagine the setting. You’re in an upmarket bar on A Wednesday night, and suddenly, a girl who looks like a cross between Heather Locklear and Megan Fox walks in and sits at the bar. You knock back your scotch and go offer to buy her a drink. She smiles and accepts. You then ask her what her name is and she replies in a sweet tone “Katinka Shittengerher.”

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is the latest handset from the company. Although Sony Ericsson’s phones have been rather good of late, I keep getting the feeling that they are just really letting themselves down with what should be the easiest part of the development process i.e. just giving it a name.
The Aino, Naite, Hazel and now the Vivaz all sound like a tropical version of Chlamydia. Granted these names are a million times better than anything Nokia can come up with – 5800, 1209, E72 what does “E” stand for?

We only have a first look press release but it’s being presented as the first cellphone with a truly high quality HD video camera. Unfortunately it is running Symbian S60 which from previous experience, is really not very good.

Symbian aside, we are psyched to get our hand on the Vivaz! It is the first step to making all of YouTube HD, since its inevitble that the other manefactures will follow suit. It also has a very sleek “Human curvature” (Their words, not ours) This meens the phone is curved at the back to fit snugly in your hand. Despite being obviously overhyped, it actually looks really good.
